Coronavirus Lock Down Advice

CORONOVIRUS – HOW TO PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THE LOCK DOWN

We are going through turbulent times. Nobody has the answer to it. Everybody is trying to make the best judgement possible and trying to minimise risk as much as possible.

As a business owner, you will be worried too. We understand that. It’s natural.

Your business means everything to you. You have spent years building it up. You may not have security knowledge and want some advice on how to protect your business.

Here’s some tips that will point you in the right direction.

CREATE A PLAN WITH YOUR SECURITY PROVIDER (IF YOU HAVE ONE)

If you have a security provider that looks after your security requirements then you need to get in touch with them. Find out what changes they have made to their business.

Ask them what their response times are during the lock down? Ask if they are operating from their office or remotely? Ask them if they are still contactable through their usual communication channels?

Find out if they can still provide the service you are paying for.

For those of you who don’t have a security provider, consider one (if you can afford it).

If not, then you may possibly contact a security company for some free tips. As difficult as it may sound, there are very good reputable security providers that will offer free advice.

COMMUNICATE

Make sure all employees have been informed of working hours, opening & closing times etc..

You don’t to leave any grey areas, all your workforce needs to be on the same page. If your business is totally locked down then nobody should be attending the office for any reason at all.

If there is still some employees commuting to work then they need to make sure they lock up the premises correctly when they leave. They may think cleaners might be arriving after them, or another employee might lock up.

You need to send out clear and concise instructions to everyone.

TEST RUN

Test your plan. See if everything is working. Make sure all cameras and alarms are working correctly. Fire Panels should be serviced and checked accordingly (If possible). Any faulty sensors need to be replaced. These checks may seem small and inappropriate, but they can save you a lot of money should there been an incident over the lock down. Also check the lighting outside the business. You don’t want to give the impression your business premises has been left abandoned.

FINAL CHECK

Just before you clock off, carry out final checks, set up the Phone diverts, secure all your valuable items in a safe place and lock up correctly.
